FAQS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I'D LOVE YOU TO MASTER MY TRACKS, WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?

- Great, I'd love to hear them! Send me an email or contact me via the form in the 'Contact' Section to tell me more about your project. Below are some pointers on how to prepare for the mastering stage.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY TRACKS BEFORE I SEND THEM FOR MASTERING?

- File Type - For best quality, export your mixes as 24bit uncompressed digital audio files (WAV, AIFF, etc) at the sample rate you are already using in your mix session. Please do not send MP3 or M4A files.

- Headroom - Make sure your mix isn’t clipping and has some headroom. -3 to -6dBS of headroom is ideal.
- Plugins - Remove any master bus processing such as brick wall peak limiters, compressors, EQs, etc. unless these effects play a vital role in the overall character of your track.
- Labels - Ensure the project is fully labelled with artist name, song titles, song order, any crossfades, time between tracks, fade-ins and fade-outs (tops and tails).

- Tempo- Please state the tempo of each song.
- Double check your mixes and check your mixes in mono. This will allow you to hear any sonic problems in your mix that cannot be fixed in the mastering stage. Mastering is to enhance a finished mix so it's important any sonic problems are taken care of before this stage.

WHAT FORMATS ARE INCLUDED FOR MY FINAL MASTERS DELIVERY?

You will receive 48kHz or 44.1kHz 16bit WAV files, Hi-Res 24bit WAV files and 320kbps MP3s can also be delivered upon request.

Masters are at Industry Standard LUFS and we can discuss your preferences in terms of dynamics / loudness.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

My rate per master is £40, which includes one revision as it is important to me you are happy with the work. Additional revisions will be charged for at a set hourly rate which I can discuss with you if that extra time is needed. In most cases this isn't necessary.

I offer vinyl mastering at the same rate, or a package of vinyl + digital masters at £55 per track. I also offer stem mastering at an hourly rate of £40.

Additionally, I take on a limited amount of mix work. If you'd like to discuss this drop me a line and we can chat more in depth about your project and rates.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?

Yes. A 50% deposit is due within 48 hours of me receiving all of your project files. The second half of your payment will be due within seven days of you giving the final OK that you are completely satisfied with your mastered files.
